Working at WPC requires interacting with NGOs / CSO's and individuals committed to gender equality!

Work Experience at Women Power Connect (WPC)

Lungbenwangliu Malangmai

Master in Gender and Development Studies (MAGD), IGNOU

In the course of my internship period, my work comprised of attending programmes/organizing events on advocacy, women’s empowerment, domestic violence, child marriage, at various places (Delhi NCR and other states) which allowed me to travel to places and witness new environments, various cultures, meet new people and most importantly learn the type of work and commitment WPC’s members have for gender issues.

As part of my internship journey, I was fortunate enough to travel to Jaipur city to attend an event from 5th-7th September, 2019 at Hotel Aangan. Jaipur (Rajasthan) being a State with high prevalence of child marriage. The programme was organized to give legal training to local NGOs and CSOs so that they have a broader knowledge of Law(s) and implement them effectively in fighting against Child Marriage. Another event I got to attend was on ‘Strengthening Legal and Institutional Mechanism to End Child Marriage in Delhi’ at Indian Law Institute on 19th September, 2019. Awareness of Child Marriage practices in the Capital of India was discussed at the consultation.
