Meet Women Power Connect

Founded in the year 2005, WomenPowerConnect (WPC) is a national level women’s lobbying organization consisting of more than 800 women’s groups and individuals. We work together with the aim of generating awareness about women’s issues and influencing legislators and policymakers to create and implement gender-friendly policies.

As an organization working for the empowerment of women with a dedicated focus on advocacy, and capacity building, WPC works with the following objectives:

• To create an alliance of women’s organizations, NGOs and individuals working on women and the girl child.

• To initiate dialogue at the regional, state, national and international levels on gender issues.

• To influence legislation with a view to fulfil the constitutional rights of women and the girl child.

• To facilitate the formulation and implementation of government policies on women issues.

• To analyze policies, legislation and budgets with a gender perspective.

The priority areas of WPC are as follows:

1. Increased Representation of Women in Parliament;

2. Gender Budgeting;

3. Awareness of Domestic Violence;

4. Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace;

5. Addressing the Declining Child Sex Ratio;

6. Anti-Trafficking; and

7. Ending Child Marriages.
